The particularity of the department is responsible for:
-The vision of the department of Statistics is to contribute to the overall objectives of sulaimani university and other colleges through excellence in research and education in the statistical sciences to serve the university community.
-to Provide excellent training in scientific data collection, data management, methods and procedures of data analysis, and training activities on the art of probabilistic reasoning.
The mission of the Department of Statistics and Information Science is to teach theory and practice of statistics to undergraduate and graduate students, and to original research in statistical theory and methodology. The Department is distinguished by the college’s strong interest in the application of statistics to such diverse areas such as health, public policy medicine, law, social and behavioral sciences.

Study method in this department is the Bologna process via semester’s system that includes theoretical and practical lectures, lab lectures and projects. The evaluation will be through two midterm exams and writing reports.
Arabic and English languages are used in the modules of this department (BA, MA and PhD.)
This department consists of four stages of the Bologna process. It includes practical and theoretical lessons in college. Each of them consists of two semesters.
